It’s good to run Disk Cleanup regularly as part of your Windows system maintenance plan. Running it once per month ensures unused files aren’t wasting disk space. So, if you’re on the bleeding edge with the Fast Ring enabled, check to see if the build is ready for you to download through Windows Update. For now the company is rolling the new build out via Windows Update. According to Gabe Aul, the leader of the program, ISO builds will be coming however the Fast ring builds will be available by direct download only. Click Start and type:action center in the Search box. Press Enter. In the upper left of the window that shows, click Change Action Center settings. Uncheck the box for Network firewall, then click OK. That’s it! My complaint would be that Windows Firewall notifications are few and far apart. Would you know of any good software that could give a user more feedback from Windows Firewall? I’m just one of those people that likes to know what’s going on....

Anyway, to shutdown previous versions of Windows, Alt + F4 was the Windows 7 keyboard shortcut that did it. The same works in Windows 8 while on the Desktop. Most of the updates in Windows 8.1 are very much welcomed, but one of the changes the company made is putting a Power button at the top right corner of the Start screen — next to your name and the Search icon. If you’re using a touch-enabled device, having the power button located there can be quite annoying. Sometimes your finger or thumb accidentally hits it when you try hitting the search icon, or try to swipe in the charms bar....
