I see Evernote’s two main strengths in its ability to capture everything that’s important and then organize it. Evernote lives on your Windows computer, your Macintosh machines, the web, and on your smartphone (sorry Linux users). Capturing a note, snapshot, or thought is as easy to do on your phone as it is in the middle of a task on your desktop. Afterward, it’s all there waiting for you, seamlessly synchronized across all platforms....
Google Sky, originally developed for use in Google Earth, has since been ported to a web app – so now you can view the starry sky without installing any software at all. A quick visit to http://www.google.com/sky/ will take you straight to your portal for browsing the universe, or at least that which we have available. There are multiple sets of imagery available on Google Sky, but the real jewel here is the Hubble Showcase....
The app was developed together with online gaming operator Gamesys, and as I mentioned, will only be available to users 18 years and older in the UK starting today. Apparently regulations in the UK allow online gambling vs. the USA being one of the most restrictive nations in this respect. The App, called Bingo & Slots Friendzy, began to appear today. Additional games like slot machines will be added to it soon....

And then there are the parts of Windows that never seem to change. 1Password has partnered with the email host Fastmail to introduce a new privacy feature called Masked Email. This tool allows you to create unique email addresses for your logins. These email addresses are created directly in the 1Password app and stored there, allowing you to access them on every platform where 1Password is available. Masked Email adds an extra layer of security to all your accounts. Avoid sharing your email address every time you sign up for a service or access a website....
Google, with its somewhat successful (not really) launch of the Chrome internet browser, has just made it publicly known they intend to enter Microsoft’s realm with Chrome OS. The operating system is scheduled for release mid-2010. Interestingly enough, they will be releasing the source code later this year. The good news for Microsoft is that development has only been connected to Netbook laptops so far. But Google does plan on running this OS on Desktops as soon as possible, and it’s free along with the open-source code....
I’m certain that the number of countries in which it will be available will expand quickly, but I strongly hope that it will be available for older Android versions, too. Not doing that would mean Google would limit its own user base, even if the number of ICS smartphones and tablets (like the Asus Transformer Prime) is on the rise. It also seems plausible that Google will replace the stock Android browser with Chrome sooner or later (no reason developing two at a time, is there?...
Google Docs has gone mobile. Well, not yet – but they’ve said we’re only days away. Yup, this week is just full of mobile surprises from Google (apparently it is also a good week to own an iPhone.) Soon you’ll be to edit Google Docs on your iOS, or Android device. But, don’t let me spoil all the fun – check out the groovy video Google made for the announcement after the jump....
Google Discontinues Drive App for Mac and PC Google made the announcement in a blog post promoting the new Drive File Stream app, which provides on demand access to files similar to OneDrive On Demand. Google notes that users of the older drive backup service will begin to receive notifications in October about its discontinuation: In October, Drive for Mac/PC users may start seeing messages in the product notifying them that Drive for Mac/PC is going away....
Face Movie – This is the coolest feature and the biggest one to talk about here. Using the facial recognition software built-into Picasa it will create a video that revolves around a face. As Google stated on their Photo Blog: Granted, it might not be a “movie” so much as it’s a glorified slideshow. But you have to admit, as far as slideshows go, this one is extremely groovy. Just consider it 1-click instant e-scrapbooking....
Office 2013 Repair or Uninstall Problems Office 2013 and previous versions of Office really dig themselves deep into the Windows OS – as well as your browsers, apps, and other programs installed. Uninstalling Office 2013 through the Control Panel > Programs and Features have had varying results in my experience, mostly not good. A lot of times, it’s hobbled with errors or doesn’t work at all. I usually uninstall programs using Revo Uninstaller – but it ends up finding an unbelievable amount of leftovers…well, let’s just say I will never try that again....
